Publication Ethics

Meujile: Jurnal Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This journal adheres to the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), addressing all aspects of ethical conduct in scholarly publishing, particularly issues related to research misconduct and publication malpractice.

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of Meujile: Journal of Language and Literature Education, including authors, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. The journal is dedicated to best practices in ethical publishing, error handling, and article retraction. Preventing publication malpractice is a fundamental responsibility of the editorial team. Any form of unethical behavior, including plagiarism in any manifestation, is strictly prohibited.

Meujile: Journal of Language and Literature Education adopts and applies COPE guidelines to ensure high ethical standards for publishers, editors, authors, and reviewers. Clear articulation of publication ethics is essential to maintaining research integrity and improving the quality of scholarly work worldwide. The publisher has no authority to interfere with editorial decisions or the scholarly content of manuscripts and serves solely to support the timely publication process.


Editors’ Responsibilities

  1. Editors have the authority to accept, reject, or request revisions to manuscripts based on evaluations conducted by the Editorial Board and peer reviewers.

  2. Editors are accountable for all articles published in Meujile: Journal of Language and Literature Education.

  3. Editors may consult with other editors or reviewers when making final publication decisions.

  4. Manuscripts must be evaluated objectively based on academic merit, without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors.

  5. Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest.

  6. Editors are responsible for ensuring a double-blind peer-review process, whereby the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another.

  7. Editorial decisions must be communicated to authors along with reviewers’ comments, except in cases where comments contain offensive or defamatory language.

  8. Editors should consider authors’ reasonable requests to exclude specific reviewers, provided such requests are justified and feasible.

  9. Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.

  10. In cases of suspected misconduct or authorship disputes, editors shall follow the relevant COPE flowcharts and procedures.


Reviewers’ Responsibilities

  1. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts ethically and identify potential research or publication misconduct.

  2. Reviewers must conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and within the agreed timeframe, and notify the editor if they are unable to complete the review.

  3. Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents.

  4. Reviewers must decline review assignments if any conflict of interest exists between themselves and the authors.


Authors’ Responsibilities

  1. Authors confirm that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal.

  2. Authors must ensure the originality of their work and appropriately cite all sources in accordance with the journal’s referencing guidelines.

  3. Plagiarism and self-plagiarism are strictly prohibited.

  4. Authors must comply with the authorship criteria specified by Meujile: Journal of Language and Literature Education, as outlined in the Author Guidelines.

  5. Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish redundant articles derived from the same research.

  6. Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.

  7. All listed authors must have approved the final version of the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

  8. Authors must ensure that no personal information is included that could identify research participants, whether through text, images, or supplementary materials.

  9. Authors are required to provide raw data or supporting information upon editorial request in cases of suspected data fabrication or falsification.

  10. Authors must promptly notify the editor if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered after submission or publication.

  11. All potential conflicts of interest, including funding sources, consultancy fees, or intellectual property interests, must be disclosed transparently using the journal’s disclosure form.
