Publication Process
The publication process at Spes: Journal of Education and Language follows a systematic and rigorous workflow designed to ensure the academic quality, transparency, and integrity of every published article. The process begins with Initial Submission, in which authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s Online Journal System (OJS). This is followed by an Initial Editorial Screening, where the editorial team evaluates the manuscript’s compliance with the journal’s focus and scope, formatting requirements, and ethical standards, including a mandatory plagiarism check.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening stage proceed to a Double-Blind Peer Review process. At this stage, each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. The identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure an objective and unbiased evaluation. Reviewers assess the manuscript’s originality, methodological rigor, clarity, relevance, and contribution to the field of education and language studies.
Based on the reviewers’ evaluations and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief issues an editorial decision, which may include acceptance, a request for minor or major revisions, or rejection of the manuscript. Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers’ comments and resubmit them within the specified timeframe.
Once a revised manuscript is formally accepted, it undergoes a copyediting and proofreading stage to improve linguistic clarity, coherence, and technical accuracy while maintaining the scholarly content. The final stage involves layout production, in which the article is formatted into its final PDF version, assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and published online as part of a scheduled issue. All published articles are made freely accessible to the global academic community in accordance with the journal’s open access policy.
